Project at 80% completion The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of TCN, Eng. Dr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz has said that the ongoing construction of 330kV transmission line from Kudenda Power Station to Mando Transmission Substation will boost power supply tremendously to Kaduna State when completed.
Engr. Abdulaziz made the disclosure while speaking with newsmen shortly after inspecting the progress of work at the site of the project recently in Kaduna.
He disclosed that a total of 215MW will be added to the national grid from the project which has reached 80% percent completion and will be commissioned before the end of the year. He attributed the delay in the completion of the transmission line from the 215MW Kudenda Substation to compensation related issue, Covid 19, which slowed down the importation of working materials, non-approval for removal of two existing towers from Gurara for relocation to the other end of the substation. He, however, said that all the Project Affected Persons (PAP) along the transmission line route have been captured and compensated with only five persons rejecting the compensation on the ground that their property was undervalued.
He explained that TCN does not pay compensation for land but for the structures, crops, and economic trees on the land such that, the issue of compensation from the state Government for land might take time as there was a backlog of people on the compensation list.
He promised that TCN would do its best to liaise with the Kaduna State Government to proffer alternative solutions for the Project Affected Persons in order to ensure timely completion of the project.
Upon completion, the 132kV transmission lines from Kudenda to Mando will be linked with the 132kV Circuit at Mando Transmission Substation to serve Kaduna, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara States in the Northwest.
He added that the project will boost power supply tremendously in Kaduna State and environs as a total of 215MW will be added to the national grid.
